Birth of Yoga Store Association

After the Great Kanto Earthquake, the movement of population began to spread to the suburbs, the number of private houses increased along the Tamagawa Railway line at Tamden Yoga Station, and shops were booming. In 1948, a business and industry association was established with Yoga’s watch dealer, Unogsuke Ogura as the chairman, but could not perform full-scale activities during the transition to a controlled economy.

After that, the arable land was accepted as a good residential area and the Yoga shopping district grew as a residential district. In the turmoil after the war, in 1947, the Yoga Shoten Association was established at 48 stores, and Naoji Suzuki became the first chairman of the store.

Olympic Tokyo Games

Kamiyoga 2-chome’s Equestrian Park was sold and built as an Olympic equestrian stadium in 50,000 pyeong, which was scheduled to be held in 1945, but was canceled due to the war, and horse training thereafter Although it has been used as a venue, the 18th Olympic Tokyo Games will be held in 1964, and National Route 246 was prepared prior to this.

In 1964, equestrian competitions were held at the Equestrian Park in preparation for the Tokyo Olympic Games, attracting worldwide attention. At this time, the Yoga Shoten Association held an Olympic flag on all street lights and offered it for sale. At that time, the membership of the Yoga Shoten Association in 1964 was 163.

Abolition of Tamagawa train and opening of new Tamagawa line

In May 1969, the Tamagawa train operated a flower train while being seen off by residents in order to improve the traffic on National Route 246. The area between Futakotamagawa and Shibuya has been abolished along with Kinuta Line, and transportation has been changed to bus use since then. Oyama-dori and Yoga-nakamachi-dori have been the mainstreams of people in Yoga until now, but with the abolition of Tamden, the flow of people has been dispersed and changed drastically.

The construction of the Shin Tamagawa Line, which took a long time, was finally completed in April 1977. During this time, discussions were held on the location of the entrance to the station, but it was finally completed at the current location. To celebrate this, the Yoga shopping street celebrated the opening of the new Tamagawa line and held a grand event.

Setagaya Business Square was completed in October 1993. This building has a well-balanced 7-story building in addition to a 29-story tower building 2 floors below ground on a vast site and is directly connected to Yoga Station, and there are walking paths and gardens outside and it is full of young people I am. As a result, the area around the station and the museum streets have become more and more busy. In April 1988, the Yoga Shoten Association became the Yoga Shotai Promotion Association and started operations toward revitalizing the shopping street.

There is a word “pioneering seven-ken peasants”. It is said that the three brothers, who call themselves Kikuchi from Shinshu Iida, came to this area with two of them and reinstated with Iida. It was said that the five houses and the two farmhouses that originally lived here were pioneered.

In the “New Edition Musashikoku Fudoki”, the creation of the village is described as Eiroku, the time of the former turtle (1558-72), Iida sword, the book, the book of the Nado toyher, Narito hedmo, Svetetashkanarko tohataez. It is said that the village was opened after the opening of Shinpukuji by Iida Taitoko and books.

It is said that Yoga (Yuga) was established in Setaga-go in the early Kamakura period, and later became owned by Shinfukuji.
